On the rue Saint-Honoré near the Louvre, this Baroque church is one of the largest in Paris and a treasury of religious art. Its long nave, chapels and domed Lady Chapel are filled with paintings, sculpture and funerary monuments commemorating writers, artists and aristocrats. The facade still bears the marks of gunfire from a Revolutionary-era clash when the young Napoleon confronted royalist insurgents on its steps. The church remains a venue for concerts, valued for its acoustics and its historic organ.
