Housed within the Hôtel des Invalides, this military history museum ranks among the largest of its kind in the world. Its collections trace European and French warfare from medieval armour and Renaissance weaponry through the Napoleonic campaigns to the two World Wars, with galleries of arms, uniforms, artillery and battle flags. Visitors move through halls of gleaming plate armour, cannon-lined courtyards and rooms recounting the Resistance. The complex also gives access to the domed church sheltering Napoleon's tomb.
