This seaside walkway runs along the shore of Galway Bay in the suburb of Salthill, offering long views toward the Burren and the Aran Islands. Developed as a Victorian resort, the promenade became a popular place to stroll, and tradition holds that walkers should kick the wall at its far end before turning back. Bathing shelters, diving boards at Blackrock and small beaches line the route, which fills with locals and visitors in fine weather. The mile-long seafront is a defining feature of Galway's coastal setting.
