This eighteenth-century church on the north side of Cork is best known for its steeple, topped by a gilded salmon weathervane and a distinctive four-faced clock. Built from 1722, two sides of the tower are faced in red sandstone and two in grey limestone, giving Cork its nickname as the city of two colours. Visitors can climb the tower and ring the famous bells themselves before enjoying panoramic views over the city and river. The clock's tendency to show slightly different times earned it a teasing local nickname.
