Bushy Park is the second largest of London's royal parks, lying just north of Hampton Court Palace on the outskirts of the capital. Herds of red and fallow deer roam its rough grassland much as they have since Tudor hunting days. Its grand centrepiece is the Diana Fountain, a gilded bronze statue set in a formal basin along a mile-long avenue of horse chestnut trees laid out by Christopher Wren. The Woodland Gardens offer streams and exotic planting, and the park served as a military headquarters in wartime.
