Fenton House is a late seventeenth-century merchant's house in Hampstead, one of the oldest surviving in the area, set within a walled garden with orchards and a working kitchen plot. It holds a notable collection of early keyboard instruments, including harpsichords, some still played at concerts. Rooms display porcelain, needlework and paintings gathered by its last private owner, who left it to the nation. The terraced garden offers a green retreat, and upper windows give sweeping views across London.
