Eighty thousand woodblocks hold the entire Buddhist canon at Haeinsa on Mount Gaya. Carved between 1237 and 1248, the Tripitaka Koreana is the most complete corpus of Buddhist texts in existence, and the 15th-century Janggyeong Panjeon halls that store it are conservation genius in timber — ventilated and humidity-balanced so effectively that the blocks survive intact today. UNESCO inscribed the depositories in 1995.
