Cobblestones, horse-drawn kalesas and rows of ancestral houses with capiz-shell windows: Vigan preserves what nowhere else in Asia does — a complete planned Spanish colonial town, established in the 16th century. Filipino, Chinese and European traditions blended here into a townscape without parallel in East and South-East Asia. UNESCO inscribed the Historic City of Vigan in 1999; Calle Crisologo at dawn is the picture everyone takes.
