Standing stones up to four metres tall dot the slopes of the Khangai Ridge, engraved with leaping, stylised stags: Mongolia's deer stones, carved between about 1200 and 600 BCE. Grouped with khirgisüür burial mounds and sacrificial altars, they are the finest surviving structures of the Bronze Age nomads of Eurasia. UNESCO added the monuments and their related sites to the World Heritage List in 2023.
