Morelia glows pink: more than 200 historic buildings carved from the region's rose-hued stone line streets that still follow their original 16th-century layout. Draped across a hillside, the Michoacán capital married Spanish Renaissance planning to Mesoamerican building experience, then layered on Baroque and neoclassical flourishes — and raised several heroes of Mexico's independence along the way. UNESCO inscribed the historic centre in 1991.
