Los Alerces National Park

Glaciers sculpted the lake-strewn valleys of Los Alerces National Park, on the Argentine side of the northern Patagonian Andes, leaving moraines, cirques and water of exceptional clarity beneath dense temperate forest. The park's emblem is the alerce — the world's second longest-living tree species, with individuals over 3,600 years old — growing here in superbly conserved stands. Protecting one of the last nearly pristine sweeps of Patagonian Forest, the park gained UNESCO World Heritage status in 2017.
