A century ago this corner of Selangor was wrecked tin-mining ground; today it is a towering rainforest that feels primeval. From the 1920s, foresters of the Forest Research Institute Malaysia planted and nurtured a man-made jungle 16 kilometres from Kuala Lumpur, an early triumph of ecological restoration now laced with trails, streams and research buildings. UNESCO inscribed the FRIM Forest Park in 2025 as proof that ruined land can be grown back into living forest.
