A vast protected area sweeping from the snow-dusted summit of Cotacachi volcano down through Chocó cloud forest to lowland rainforest near the coast. Most visitors enter at the Cuicocha crater lake sector, but the reserve's lower forests harbor jaguars, ocelots, and exceptional bird diversity.
