One of the largest intact rainforest blocks in Central America, tucked into Nicaragua's remote southeastern corner along the Río San Juan. Guided canoe and hiking trips from El Castillo or San Juan de Nicaragua reveal poison dart frogs, tapir tracks, and huge flocks of parrots. Access is strictly with local guides, which keeps visitor numbers low.
