A tiny island town on Lake Petén Itzá linked to the mainland by a causeway, its cobbled lanes stacked with painted houses, rooftop bars and lake views in every direction. Most visitors use it as the base for Tikal, but sunset boat rides and lakeside beaches justify an extra day.
