A riverside colonial town on the Grijalva that serves as the main embarkation point for boat trips into the Sumidero Canyon. Its plaza centers on a striking Mudéjar-style brick fountain from the 1560s, and each January the Parachicos dancers, recognized by UNESCO, fill the streets during the Fiesta Grande.
