Founded in 1134, Rushen Abbey was the most important religious house on the Isle of Man and the burial place of several Kings of Mann. Today its Cistercian ruins stand in quiet gardens beside the Silverburn River, with an exhibition explaining monastic life and the abbey's role in recording early Manx history. The riverside path to Silverdale Glen begins nearby.
