Opened in 1893, the Manx Electric Railway carries some of the world's oldest tramcars still in regular service along the dramatic east coast from Douglas to Ramsey. The line clings to cliff tops and dips through wooded glens, with an interchange at Laxey for the mountain line up Snaefell. Riding the vintage open-sided cars on a clear day is one of the island's defining experiences.
