This park protects the Ugandan flank of an ancient shield volcano with one of the largest calderas on earth. Multi-day treks climb through bamboo and giant groundsel moorland to Wagagai peak at 4,321 meters, without the crowds or permit costs of bigger mountains. Caves once carved out by salt-seeking elephants line the lower slopes.

Where next?

The world is wide open.
