Tanzania's second-highest peak rises to 4,562 meters inside Arusha National Park, its horseshoe crater the remnant of an ancient collapse. The three- to four-day ascent passes giraffes and buffalo on the lower slopes and is a classic acclimatization climb before Kilimanjaro.
