Ivindo National Park

Blackwater rivers thread through nearly 300,000 hectares of largely untouched equatorial rainforest in northern Gabon, tumbling over rapids and waterfalls in a landscape of striking beauty. Ivindo shelters endemic freshwater fish, rare riverweeds and the Critically Endangered slender-snouted crocodile, along with forest elephants, gorillas and chimpanzees deep in old-growth forest. UNESCO inscribed Ivindo National Park as a natural World Heritage Site in 2021.
