Nahuel Huapi National Park is Argentina's oldest national park, established in 1934 around the eponymous glacial lake in northern Patagonia. The lake, which covers 557 square kilometres and reaches depths of over 400 metres, is ringed by the forested foothills of the Andes and overlooked by several volcanic peaks. The Paso de las Nubes trekking route and the boat excursion to Victoria Island and the Arrayanes Forest are classic ways to access the park's interior from the base town of Bariloche.
