A glaciated Andean range running northeast of La Paz containing several peaks above 6,000 meters, including Huayna Potosí at 6,088 meters — one of the most accessible technical peaks in the Andes for acclimatized climbers. The range is visible from La Paz on clear days as a wall of ice and rock above the eastern canyon rim. The Zongo Valley along the range's western flank descends through a sequence of hydroelectric reservoirs and cloud forest.
