A 43-kilometer ancient Andean road connecting the Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu through high-altitude passes, cloud forest, and a series of intermediate Inca ruins. The route passes through three ecological zones and crosses the Warmiwañusqa pass at 4,215 meters. Permits are quota-limited and sell out months in advance; the trail culminates at Inti Punku — the Sun Gate — with the first view of Machu Picchu in the valley below.
