One of the largest active cave systems in the world, Grutas de Cacahuamilpa in Guerrero contains a main cavern corridor stretching nearly two kilometers with chambers reaching 70 meters in height. Stalactites and stalagmites of unusual size and variety fill the illuminated chambers, many of which have been given descriptive names over the centuries. Two rivers — the San Jerónimo and the Chontacoatlán — emerge from the cave system's lower sections, and kayaking through the subterranean river passages is possible on guided tours.
