The Dempster Highway is a 736-kilometre unpaved all-season road running north from Dawson City in Yukon to Inuvik in the Northwest Territories, crossing the Arctic Circle and traversing subarctic tundra, the Richardson Mountains, and the Ogilvie Mountains. The highway provides the only road access to the Mackenzie Delta region and passes through Tombstone Territorial Park and two First Nations territories. The open tundra landscape offers exceptional aurora visibility in autumn and access to barren-ground caribou migration routes.
