Prince Albert National Park in northern Saskatchewan occupies a landscape in transition between the agricultural parkland to its south and the boreal forest stretching to the Arctic, incorporating fens, lakes, and sandy esker ridges. The park contains a thriving colony of white pelicans on Lavallée Lake, one of the few landlocked pelican nesting colonies in the world. The Grey Owl cabin on Ajawaan Lake, accessible by canoe and portage, commemorates Archibald Belaney, whose writings as the indigenous identity Grey Owl helped shape early conservation thinking in Canada.
