Churchill is a small town on the western shore of Hudson Bay accessible only by air or rail, positioned at the convergence of three distinct biomes: Arctic tundra, boreal forest, and marine subarctic. The town is among the world's premier locations to observe polar bears in the wild, as the bears congregate each autumn waiting for sea ice to form. Hudson Bay is also one of the most reliably accessible spots in North America for viewing the aurora borealis, visible on clear nights from September through March.
