Thousand Islands

The Thousand Islands archipelago straddles the St. Lawrence River between Ontario and New York State, comprising over 1,800 islands ranging from exposed rock shelves to substantial landmasses with private estates and historic castles. The area forms part of Frontenac Arch, a Precambrian granite bridge connecting the Canadian Shield to the Adirondack Mountains and creating a distinct biodiversity corridor. Boat tours from Gananoque and Brockville are the primary way to explore the water routes between the islands.
