Bonne Bay is a deep marine fjord cleaving into the Tablelands of Gros Morne National Park from the Gulf of St. Lawrence. The fjord divides into two arms around the low peninsula of Norris Point, and the surrounding terrain exposes ancient mantle rock — the peridotite of the Tablelands — in an austere orange-brown landscape largely devoid of vegetation. The town of Woody Point on the south arm is a heritage community with a well-preserved late-nineteenth century streetscape.
