Terra Nova National Park protects a section of boreal forest and deeply indented marine coastline on the Bonavista Peninsula of Newfoundland, where the Long Range Mountains descend to saltwater fjords known as bays and tickles. The Newman Sound and Clode Sound inlets provide sheltered kayaking routes through scenery typical of the Newfoundland outport coast. Black bears, moose, and bald eagles are commonly encountered along the park's trail network.
