The largest natural lake in the Canadian Rockies and the largest glacially fed lake in North America, Maligne Lake stretches 22 kilometres through Jasper National Park. Spirit Island, a tiny forested islet near the lake's south end framed by receding mountain ridges, is the most reproduced image of the Rockies. The island is accessible only by boat tour operating from June through October.
