Peyto Lake sits in a hanging valley above the Icefields Parkway and is renowned for the unusual wolf-head silhouette its outline traces when viewed from the Bow Summit Lookout. The lake's vivid aquamarine colour intensifies through the summer as glacial meltwater feeds into the basin. The short hike from the Bow Summit parking area to the main viewpoint takes roughly twenty minutes.
