Cloud Gate is a large-scale public sculpture by artist Anish Kapoor installed in Millennium Park in Chicago's Grant Park, consisting of a polished stainless steel surface shaped into a seamless elliptical form resembling a mercury droplet. Its reflective underside creates a concave mirror that distorts and multiplies the reflection of the Chicago skyline and visitors standing beneath it, a quality exploited extensively by photographers. The sculpture has become one of the most recognizable pieces of public art in the United States since its installation in 2006.
