Polihale State Park occupies the far western end of Kauaʻi's shoreline, anchoring the longest stretch of beach in the Hawaiian islands — approximately 27 kilometers of golden sand running from the mouth of the Waimea River to the base of the Nā Pali cliffs. The beach faces west, providing unobstructed sunset views across the open Pacific toward Niʻihau. Strong shore break and rip currents make swimming hazardous, but the remote, undeveloped character of the site draws photographers and campers seeking solitude.
