Skyline Drive runs the full 105-mile length of Shenandoah National Park along the Blue Ridge crest, with 75 designated overlooks providing expansive westward views across the Shenandoah Valley. The road was constructed during the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps and has since become one of the most traveled scenic byways on the East Coast. Sunrise from Stony Man overlook, at roughly 4,011 feet elevation, reveals layered ridgelines reaching into West Virginia and beyond.
