Shenandoah stretches along the Blue Ridge Mountains of northern Virginia, with Skyline Drive running its entire 105-mile length atop the crest. The park shelters dense hardwood forest that produces vivid autumn color, typically peaking in mid to late October. More than five hundred miles of hiking trails access waterfalls, rocky summits, and the elevated meadows known as Big Meadows, where white-tailed deer graze in the open.
