An active stratovolcano on Tanna island in southern Vanuatu, Mount Yasur is one of the most accessible active volcanoes in the world, with the summit crater reachable by four-wheel-drive and a short walk. The volcano's open lava lake and near-continuous explosions of incandescent rock occur multiple times per hour and are most dramatic at night. The surrounding area is coated in black volcanic ash and offers unobstructed views across the Siwi plain.
