A southern island in Vanuatu, Tanna is home to Mount Yasur, one of the world's most accessible active volcanoes, whose summit crater can be approached on foot to observe continuous strombolian eruptions that have given it the name 'the Lighthouse of the Pacific'. The volcano's persistent activity means eruptions are visible at night from several kilometres away. Tanna is also associated with the John Frum cargo cult, a significant Melanesian cultural movement.
