A geothermal area within the Taupo Volcanic Zone south of Rotorua, Wai-O-Tapu is known for vividly coloured hot spring pools including the Champagne Pool, a 65-metre-wide crater of orange and green mineral-laden water. The Lady Knox Geyser erupts daily at 10:15 a.m. The area's rainbow of mineral deposits — sulphur yellow, arsenic green, antimony orange — distinguishes it visually from other geothermal parks in the region.
