New Zealand's smallest national park runs along the northern tip of South Island and is distinguished by golden-sand beaches, turquoise coastal waters, and a well-maintained coastal track. The Abel Tasman Coast Track is one of New Zealand's nine Great Walks and can be completed partly by water taxi, allowing walkers to explore successive curved bays and granite headlands. Fur seals haul out on rocky outcrops near Tonga Island.
