New Zealand's largest national park encompasses 1.2 million hectares of deeply incised fiords, ancient beech forest, and glaciated mountains in the far southwest of South Island. Beyond Milford Sound, it contains Doubtful Sound and several lesser-visited fiords accessible only by boat or floatplane. The park's interior is traversed by the Milford Track and Routeburn Track, two of New Zealand's Great Walks.
