A limestone plateau forming the southern tip of Bali, the Bukit Peninsula is characterized by sheer sea cliffs, hidden coves with white-sand beaches, and upscale coastal development. Beaches such as Padang Padang, Bingin, and Balangan are set below the cliff edge and accessible via steep staircases, with warm-water waves making the peninsula the center of Bali's surf culture. The clifftop Pura Uluwatu temple, dedicated to the spirits of the sea, stands at the western extremity of the peninsula above a 70-meter drop to the ocean.
