A black-sand beach on the far western coast of Bali in Jembrana regency, Medewi is known for a long left-hand point break that peels for considerable distances in the right swell conditions, attracting experienced surfers. The surrounding area is quieter and less commercially developed than the southern Bali surf coast, with rice paddies extending to the beach's edge in places. The beach is backed by fishing villages where colorful jukungs are drawn up on the dark volcanic sand.
