A remote marine national park in the southeastern tip of Sulawesi, Wakatobi encompasses four main islands — Wangi-Wangi, Kaledupa, Tomia, and Binongko — whose name forms the park's acronym. The surrounding reefs are considered among the most biodiverse in the Coral Triangle, with visibility frequently exceeding 30 meters and walls beginning just meters from shore. The Bajo sea-nomad community on the island of Kaledupa lives in stilt villages built over the water, maintaining distinctive maritime traditions.
