A Torajan burial site where dozens of carved wooden tau tau effigies stand in niches cut into a sheer limestone cliff face, representing the souls of high-ranking individuals whose remains lie in the chambers behind. The galleries of brightly painted figures arranged in rows across the rock face make Lemo one of the most visually striking and ethnographically significant sites in Tana Toraja. The site remains active as a burial ground for Torajan noble families.
