A high-altitude crater lake lying within the caldera of Mount Rinjani at approximately 2,010 meters elevation, Segara Anak is considered a sacred site by local Sasak and Balinese communities. Hot spring vents along its southeastern shore feed warm pools, offering a stark contrast to the cold highland air. The lake is accessible via the multi-day trekking routes into the Rinjani caldera and shelters a young active volcanic cone, Gunung Baru Jari, rising from its northwestern corner.
