A Hindu water temple set partly on the shores and partly on a small island in Lake Bratan, this shrine in the highland Bedugul area is dedicated to Dewi Danu, the goddess of water and agriculture. The multi-tiered meru pagodas appear to float on the lake's surface when water levels are high, and morning mist rolling off the surrounding volcanic mountains adds to the atmosphere. The site remains an active religious center for regional farmers dependent on the lake's irrigation systems.
