An archipelago of over 1,500 small islands, cays, and shoals in the Coral Triangle, Raja Ampat is recognized as having the highest recorded marine biodiversity on Earth. Mushroom-shaped karst islets draped in jungle rise from turquoise shallows above coral reefs that shelter manta rays, wobbegong sharks, and hundreds of reef fish species. Above water, the limestone formations at viewpoints such as Pianemo offer sweeping compositions over lagoons and hidden bays.
