Tonsai Bay is a small, sea-accessible beach community on the peninsula between Railay West and the mainland near Krabi, reachable only by longtail boat at high tide or by scrambling over rocks at low tide. The bay is surrounded by overhanging limestone cliffs and dense vegetation, and the beach fronts a shallow rocky bay. It has developed as a climbing and budget traveller destination with a distinctly informal atmosphere relative to the resorts at Railay. The surrounding karst faces provide dozens of established sport climbing routes.
